Notes about FITS files: What you don't want to know about FITS files

If you have to read this section, you are in trouble: ISOCONT displayed your FITS file upside down or in another peculiar way! Before you proceed check that you have the corrected IDL astronomical routines: AD2XY.pro, XY2AD.pro, WCSSPH2XY.PRO, GSSS_STDAST.pro, and PUTAST.pro. The revision history should contain a note that they were modified by R. Gastaud on March and June 1997. If the above procedures are corrected and display problems persist, the error comes from either a badly written FITS header, or an ``exotic'' FITS header. In the next section we will try to describe how a ``good'' FITS header should look.
